THE TOWER OF LONDONThe Tower of London is over 900 years. It was a fortress, a royal palace and a prison. Now it’s a museum.Tower Bridge is the only Thames bridge which can be raised.

THE TOWER OF LONDONThe Tower of London is the home to The Crown Jewels.The Tower is full of ravens. There is a legend which says that the Tower and Britain will fall if the ravens leave.Special guards, Beefeaters, in red and black uniforms guard the Tower. They take care of the ravens.

BUCKINGHAM PALACEBuckingham Palace has been the official London residence of Britain's monarchy since 1837.Foot Guards guard the Palace. They wear red jackets and tall, furry hats called bearskins.The Changing of the Guard is the colourful ceremony that takes place in front of Buckingham Palace at 11 o’clock every day.

WESTMINSTER PALACE(THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT)At first, Westminster Palace was the home to the Kings and Queens of England. Now it is the place where British Parliament meets.Westminster Palace is famous for Big Ben. (In fact Big Ben is the name of the clock bell.)

WESTMINSTER ABBEYWestminster Abbey is 700 years old. The Abbey was built by Edward the Confessor in 1065.It is the place of coronation of the British Monarchs. Many kings and queens and famous Britons are buried there.

ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRALSt Paul’s Cathedral is the biggest English church. It’s very old. It was destroyed three times. St Paul's Cathedral of today, the fourth, was built by Sir Christopher Wren.The dome of St Paul's Cathedral is the second biggest dome in the world.The Dome and the Whispering Gallery

TRAFALGAR SQUARETrafalgar Square is named in honour of the British victory over the French fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 . It was Admiral Horatio Nelson who won the Battle of Trafalgar.In the centre of this square there is Nelson’s Column.

THE LONDON EYEThe London Eye is the world's highest observation wheel. It is 135 metres high.Standing inside the glass capsule of the London Eye you can admire London from above.
